Counter-Strike (commonly abbreviated to CS ) is a series of electronic games of first – person shooter multiplayer , in which terrorist teams and counter-terrorist battle each other, respectively, performing an act of terror (exploding bombs, taking hostages) and preventing them (disarming bombs, rescuing hostages). The series began in Windows in 1999 with the first version of Counter-Strike . It was initially launched as a modification of Half-Life and developed by Minh “Gooseman” Le and Jess “Cliffe” Cliffe, before the intellectual property rights of the game were purchased by Valve Corporation, Developers of Half-Life.
The game was to sequence the Counter-Strike: Condition Zero , developed by Turtle Rock Studios and released in early 2004 . Later the same year, Counter-Strike: Source was released by Valve Corporation. Released eight months after World War II, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, in November 2004 , was a remake of the original Counter-Strike and the first of the franchise to use the new engine Source Valve. [ 1 ] The fourth title of the main series itself was developed by Valve, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive , and was released in 2012 for Windows, OS X, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 . Hidden Path Entertainment , who also worked on post-release of Counter-Strike: Source, helped produce the game next to the Valve. [ 2 ] A number of spin-offs were released in Asian lands .
