Rome: Total War is a video game of real-time strategy by the British developer Creative Assembly , belonging to the series of video games Total War , of this same company, published in 2004 .
The game deals with the principles of the increase of the power of Rome , in 270 a. C. , and the player has to direct his faction towards the domination of the empire. All the factions to choose are Roman (although if any faction is defeated, it can be chosen at the beginning of a new campaign), families that influenced at some time in the history of Rome: the Brutes ( Brutii ), the Julians ( Julii ) and the Scipio ( Scipii ). Each of them begins in a different place and has different objectives: the Brutus begin in southern Italy , and must conquer Greece ; the Julians in the north of Italy and must conquer some French enclaves andSardinia ; and the Escipiones begin with a city in the center of Italy and another one in Sicily and they must conquer Sicily, and later, Carthage . When the family you lead becomes too powerful, it can march on Rome and start a civil war .
Rome: Total War combines turn-based management strategy and battles in three dimensions and in real time. The graphic section is very attractive.
The game is located when the power of Rome grew until the end of the Roman Republic with various factions of the time. There are 2 different modes to play: Campaign and Battle. And also historical / fast / personalized battle and of course multiplayer battle.
The campaigns consist of a map in which your main objective is to conquer everything. There are two types of campaign. The children of Mars (tutorial) is in the fourth century BC, the Senate has given an army to the Roman family of Joules to conquer land for the Senate. It’s basically a campaign to learn. The Imperial Campaign begins in 270 a. C. It covers all of Europe , North Africa and Asia Minor. At first you can only play Roman factions (see Factions section) but you can unlock some of the factions conquering the last of their enclaves. There are two types of objectives: The Short Campaign, which is to conquer 15 provinces or have at least one enclave when certain factions disappear (depends on the faction used) or the Long Campaign, which is to have 50 enclaves and conquer the city of Rome.
Rome: Total War allows players to fight in different historical scenarios. The player takes control of an army general that they outnumber or lose, and must fight hard for victory. The Tutors help in this type of battles.
