Europa Universalis 4 ( Europa Universalis IV ) is a great strategy game history developed by the Swedish company Paradox Development Studio and published by Paradox Interactive announced August 10, 2012 on the sidelines of Gamescom 7 and released August 13, 2013 on Windows , OS X and Linux . Because of the historical context of the game ( Great Discoveries and colonization New World ), the exploration and colonization become major points of the game system. The game also features a multiplayer mode playable simultaneously by 32 players.
The player has the ability to control hundreds of countries (these may vary depending on departure date) at any date of the period from 11 November 1444 to 2 January 1821. The exploration and colonization play a major role in the game system, the appearance exploration particular being represented by a world map being hidden largely to all countries of the world in the early game and revealing itself gradually as and measurement progression in time.
