Devil May Cry 4 is a game of action-adventure and hack and slash developed and published by Capcom for PlayStation 3 , Xbox 360 and PC in 2008 . The game is the fourth installment of the Devil May Cry later was released on February 3, 2011 a portable version for iPhone , iPod touch and iPad entitled Devil May Cry 4: Refrain. Chronologically is the third part of the story, the game is between the original Devil May Cry and Devil May Cry 2 .
The story follows Nero, a teenager who has demonic powers is on a mission to stop the series main character, Dante, after he murdered several members of the Order of the Sword including their leader. At first the player controls Nero in the first half of the game and then play with Dante in the other half while fighting enemies in close combat, either using firearms, swords or other kind of weapons and skills they may acquire throughout the game. Devil May Cry 4 was the first installment of the series to be released for multiple consoles simultaneously; during development, Capcom focused on all versions, to reach the same visual quality.
Receipt of Devil May Cry 4 was positive, mainly praising its high and challenging difficulty and special moves of the characters. However, the game was heavily criticized for backtracking and some problems with the camera. Currently the game has sold over 3 million units worldwide, becoming the best – selling series title. It has also been adapted to a visual novel in two volumes by its original writer Bingo Morihashi.
On December 15, 2014, Capcom announced a remastered version of the game titled Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition to be released in June 2015 for the PlayStation 4 , Xbox One and PC . The game adds two voice track: in English and Japanese (but only for the Japanese version of the game, the international version keeps the voices in English), improved visual effects and textures, combat re-balanced, additional costumes and 3 new playable characters: Vergil returning from Devil May Cry 3 , Trish being playable for the first time since Devil May Cry 2 , and Lady who first appears as a playable character in the franchise.
On the coast of a remote land lies the fortified town of Fortuna. Here, the group known as “the Order of the Sword” practiced a mysterious religion. They worship the devil warrior Sparda , protector of humanity, like a god, while carrying out its tasks, the extermination of all demons. Nero, a young knight of the Order, is chosen to hunt Dante , the mysterious murderer leader of the Order of the Sword. At the same time, an enormous amount of demons begin to infest the entire city. Will regarding these events …? Soon, Nero will understand why the appearance of Dante, and the true intentions of the Order of the Sword.
Nero: It is a young orphan extremely skilled and serves as Holy Knight to the Order of the Sword. Dante: He and Nero star in the game.
