Assassin’s Creed 3 is the sequel to Assassin’s Creed Revelations . As in the other game in the series, the player controls Desmond Miles in the xxi th century . This man can relive the memories of his ancestors thanks to a device called “Animus”, allowing him to travel in time through their common genetic memory . The struggle between Assassins and Templars has indeed survived in all eras since their beginning during the Crusades: the handful of Assassins who resist today (of which Desmond is the last descendant) are threatened by the multinational company Abstergo Industrieswhich embraces the ideas of the Templars. Everyone is looking for artifacts left behind by an ancient civilization that is more technologically advanced than ours, but which disappeared thousands of years before the birth of man. These objects have considerable intrinsic power and their assembly constitutes cards or keys. In Revelations , Desmond has discovered the location of the Last Temple in the United States and must therefore find the key to unlock it.
Assassin’s Creed 3 Characters
The player controls three characters in Assassin’s Creed 3: Desmond , Haytham Kenway and Connor .
The main character of this opus is Ratonhnhaké: ton ( / ˈrəduːnˈhəɡeɪduːn / / “Ra-doon-ha-gay-doon” meaning “a scuffed life” in reference to a struggle to survive 3 ), born in 1756 to an English father , Haytham Kenway, and a Native American mother , Kaniehti: io. He is raised by his mother’s tribe, the Kanien’keha: ka (from the Mohawk community ), while the Seven Years’ War unfolds (which will be told through the eyes of Shay Patrick Cormack in Assassin’s Creed: Rogue ) . He is renamed Connor by Achilles Davenport who trains him to become an Assassin in order to go unnoticed in Colonial America . At once stubborn, naive, brutal and gullible4 , his personality could not be more different from that of his charismatic ancestor Ezio Auditore 5 ; he is an expert in the art of hunting and can move from tree to tree with disconcerting ease 4 , 6 . As a young adult, Connor first engages in a vendetta against the Templars responsible for the destruction of his village when he was a child 7 and then joined the Brotherhood of Assassins in 1770 8 . While Altair is an assassin Ezio business and is motivated by revenge, Connor is faithful to the spirit of liberty and justice for its people and for all men in general 9. Idealist at first, he discovers with disillusion that his version of the Good is not the same for everyone, including those he considered as his models 6 and is opposed to all those who terrorize and want to impose their ideas on the world. . He did not come to camp in particular, but is fighting alongside those who share, even momentarily, ideas and objectives 9 .
The player also controls Briton Haytham Kenway, a Master Templar who was recruited in his youth by Grand Master Reginald Birch. He formed the Colonial Rite of the Order of the Templars on his arrival in Boston (thus becoming himself Grand Master) and, after having tried unsuccessfully to enter the Temple, set about establishing the domination of the order. Templars at the head of the country, intriguing in turn for the British forces , loyalists and patriots . During the main and secondary missions, Connor and Haytham meet historical figures such as George Washington , Samuel Adams , Benjamin Franklin , Paul Revere orIsrael Putnam as well as Charles Lee , Benjamin Church , William Johnson , Thomas Hickey , Nicholas Biddle or John Pitcairn , Connor’s targets.

Assassin’s Creed 3 Gameplay
While the game is introduced by the protagonist of the early titles Desmond Miles, the bulk of the gameplay is located in the genetic memories of the character that the player controls through his ancestors Altaïr, Ezio, Connor or Edward passing through the Animus. This postulate provides a diegetic interface to the player, allowing to visualize the health of the characters, their equipment, their objectives and many other elements. The Animus is a system for decoding Desmond’s ” genetic memory ” using sensors, on the assumption that the lives and experiences of his ancestors can be traced through his DNA.. In order to properly trace the thread of these memories, the player must control the Assassin to maintain synchronization between Desmond and his ancestors. By completing objectives, it locks in sync and allows you to advance in the general quest. By performing actions that go against the precepts of the Assassins or by dying in-game, the timing is broken, forcing the player to start over at the last save point.
This game system (the Animus) allows developers to justify the game interface usually present in video games: health, weapons, mini-map or general map, visual indications on enemies, reloading at the last checkpoint , etc. Through the Animus, the player can start over the missions already completed, in order to improve the synchronization (from the episode Brotherhood ) by reaching the objective according to a specific way established by the designers (use this or that weapon for the ‘assassination, or kill only the target, etc.). This allows several levels of difficulty – and therefore replayability .
