After the end of Tekken 4 , Jin Kazama flew off Honmaru temple after leaving Heihachi and Kazuya unconscious. When awakened, a host of robots Jack-4 attacked the temple; sent by the G Corporation, its goal was to eliminate Kazuya. Father and son work together to fight them, however, taking advantage of an oversight of Heihachi, Kazuya throws him against Jack and flies off. Behind him, Honmaru is destroyed with Heihachi inside. All this is covered by a mysterious figure who sends a notice of the death of Heihachi message.
Everyone started to believe that Heihachi Mishima was dead. Ownerless, the Mishima Zaibatsu had been leaderless, but when some wanted to claim her , someone had already taken care of it. This person was Jinpachi Mishima ; Jinpachi was the father of Heihachi and original founder of the Mishima Zaibatsu, however, he was betrayed by his son and imprisoned under Honmaru. Jinpachi did not die, but was possessed by an evil entity and survived. When Honmaru was destroyed, Jinpachi emerged from the ruins, took control of the Mishima Zaibatsu and called the V Tournament King of Iron Fist.
Jin woke become unconscious after his diabolical version and Kazuya discovered, through Raven , the G Corporation had betrayed him. Meanwhile, Heihachi survived the attack, but could not claim the Mishima Zaibatsu, and when he learned that the V Tournament King of Iron Fist had been summoned, and had ended.
Jin advanced through the tournament to the end, where faced and defeated Jinpachi. Once defeated his great-grandfather, and as winner of the V Tournament King of Iron Fist, Jin takes control of the Mishima Zaibatsu.
In this installment, Tekken 5 offers one of the largest amounts of characters that delivery of the saga Tekken , a total of 32 characters. All the characters were introduced in Tekken 4 return, except for Combot and Miharu Hirano (which was an outfit of Ling Xiaoyu in Tekken 4 ). However, what stands out this time is that people whose last appearance was in Tekken 2 returned in this edition; we talk about characters like Bruce Irvin , Wang Jinrei or Ganryū .
Tekken 5 introduces a considerable number of new characters; Asuka Kazama , a passionate fighter with a connection to Jin Kazama ; Feng Wei , an arrogant fighter Kenpō seeking the secrets of the Divine Fist; Raven , a mysterious ninja whose identity and intentions are an absolute mystery; and Jinpachi Mishima , original founder of the Mishima Zaibatsu and antagonist of this release. Besides all that, the demonic version of Jin, is introduced Devil Jin , and a new edition of robots Jack , Jack-5.
As a novelty introduced Tekken 5 is that many of his characters speak in their native languages. While in Tekken 4 characters speak in English or Japanese, here people like Hwoarang and Baek Doo San speak Korean , or Wang Jinrei and Feng Wei speak Mandarin .
