Rollcage is an arcade driving video game released in 1999 on Microsoft Windows and Sony Playstation . Produced by Psygnosis and Attention To Detail the game is considered the counterpart on wheels of the famous Wipe out (another futuristic arcade driving game of Psygnosis) because of the speed of the means and the particularity of circuits and weapons.
The game involves the use of one of the selectable cars divided by team (each with special driving characteristics) in a tournament where players can use weapons to gain positions during the races. The cars have four huge wheels that allow you to overturn and continue to run anyway (the part above the car is identical to the part below). In addition the player can make use of science fiction weapons (like search missiles or energy shields) to hinder opponents.
The twenty routes that can be covered include parabolic curves and tunnels in which the cars, driven by centrifugal force and speed, can perform turns of death and twists. Scattered on the asphalt then there are the activators of the weapons: particular icons on which to run that enable the use of missiles or mines. Another peculiarity of the circuits is the possibility of destroying some of their parts as, for example, supporting columns of small structures that falling on the ground can slow down the opponents.

In the game there are many types of weapons including a guided missile able to search the car in the first place. The contributions to the most interesting genre are the Timewarp, device that slows down the game enormously and consequently makes overtaking much easier and the particular wormhole effect capable of teleporting the cars to another point of the track.
