Resident Evil 5 , released in Japan under the name Biohazard 5 ( バイオハザード5 , Baiohazādo Faibu ? ) , Is a video game of shooting in the third person developed and published by the Japanese company Capcom . He was released in March 2009 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and in September on PCs with Windows .
Following the events of Resident Evil 4 , the game is set in Africa in 2009. Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar are investigating a mutagenic virus dispersed in nature and must defend themselves against monsters it generates. Developers have built a game mode in co-operation that can be played online.
The game knows a big commercial success; in December 2009, it has sold 5.3 million copies around the world, the best selling series Resident Evil and the second biggest sale ever made by Capcom . In spring 2010 , Resident Evil 5 is reissued in a new version called Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It includes the game and all the extra content available for download 9 .
In 2009, eleven years after the incident of the Spencer mansion and five years after the fall of Umbrella , Chris Redfield , one of the founding members of the BSAA (Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance), travels to the African village of Kijuju for prevent the holding of a sale of biological weapons in the black market . He is supported in this task by Sheva Alomar , a member of the African division of BSAA which is responsible for help against the threat of bioterrorism.
By meeting Sheva, Chris remembers his former partner Jill Valentine . Chris is in radio contact with the Alpha team led by Kirk that took place in another area of the village. At the checkpoint, Kirk informs that some Irving should be present in a biological weapons sale and must go to a contact to retrieve their weapons and learn more about the situation.
On the path to the flag, they vaguely realize abductions of people in the streets. They notice that the villagers are not very welcoming and quite eager to violence. From the window they see the person speaking into the megaphone, surrounded by a large number of villagers even more eager for violence.
