Max Payne is a video game series created by Remedy Entertainment and recently, by Rockstar Vancouver . The series is named after its protagonist, Max Payne , officer of the NYPD . [1]
The first game of the series, Max Payne was released in 2001 for Microsoft Windows , in 2002 for Xbox , PlayStation 2 , and Apple Macintosh ; a special version of the game has been marketed for Game Boy Advance in 2003. The first chapter of the sequel was released in 2003 under the title Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne . Max Payne 2 was released for PC , Xbox and PlayStation 2. In 2008, he was released a film based on the first chapter of the game , titled Max Payne. In 2009, Rockstar announced the release of a third installment of the series Max Payne 3 , developed by Rockstar Vancouver , the game was released in May 2012 for PC, Xbox and PlayStation 3 . The series of Max Payne is known for using the ” bullet time ” in the action sequences. The series has garnered acclaim. Both Max Payne is Max Payne 2 and both Max Payne 3 have been well received by critics, although sales of the first sequel were considered poor. [6] [7] . The cinematic interpretation, which saw the actor Mark Wahlberg in the role of detective Payne , has had the opposite effect: the film has received negative criticism but was a commercial success.
Max Payne is the first game of the series. It is a third-person shooter developed by Remedy Entertainment , produced by 3D Realms and published by Gathering of Developers . The game follows the story of Max Payne , an agent of the NYPD who tries to trace the killers of his family and those of his friend and companion to the NYPD Alex Balder . Throughout history, Payne finds himself several allies (including Vladimir Lem and Mona SaxWho will die in the sequel) with which it will fight their antagonists in an operation that will be called “case Valkyrie” from the name of the synthetic drug Valkyrie (Valkyr in the original game). There are several references to Norse mythology in the first chapter of the series.
